Meet April Lacey
April Lacey, MA, LPC
If you have had traumatic experiences with religion, you have come to the right place. This is a secular space where you are free to say what you want, without judgment.
Thank you for being here. My name is April Lacey, and I’m a licensed therapist in Eugene, Oregon. People describe me as warm, supportive, and calm—with a little “good energy” mixed in. My approach includes skills to get calm when you’re feeling anxious, as well as deeper emotional work, because I believe healing isn’t just about coping in the moment—it’s about reclaiming your overall sense of safety, autonomy, and peace.
When you walk away from religion, it can feel like you lost your sense of identity. You’ve spent a large chunk of your life being taught to question yourself, and submit to a higher authority. So when that’s gone, and it is just you - it can be very scary! The good news is that you have everything you need to heal, move forward, and make healthy choices for yourself. I can help you get there - one step at a time.

How Can I Help You?
My therapeutic style is useful in treating anxiety, depression, and adjustment to life changes, as I pull from various styles of therapy to support you in reaching your goals. Having a therapist for depression can help improve your mood, increase motivation, and solve problems.
I use CBT’s methods of working through inaccurate/unhelpful thought patterns, DBT for tolerating difficult emotions, and EMDR for processing past events that are impacting current state of depression. Anxiety therapists function in the same way, as you can learn DBT skills to manage anxious feelings and CBT skills to challenge and reframe distorted thinking. EMDR is particularly helpful for processing trauma and enhancing personal growth. I can help you build a deeper understanding of yourself by asking you the right questions and providing you with the right tools to grow. Whether you are looking for Eugene therapy or a Los Angeles therapist, I am here to help.
